On December 6th 1989, 14 young women were killed at the Polytechnique Montréal.

Annie St-Arneault, Geneviève Bergeron, Hélène Colgan, Nathalie Croteau, Barbara Daigneault, Anne-Marie Edward, Maud Haviernick, Maryse Laganière, Maryse Leclair, Anne-Marie Lemay, Sonia Pelletier, Michèle Richard, Annie Turcotte et Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz.

These promising students were killed simply because they were women.

This event left a lasting impact on Canadians. Each year we honour the memory of these innocent victims.

16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign is an international campaign that began in 1991. From November 25th, the International Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women, to December 10th, International Human Rights Day, the campaign calls on individuals and groups around the world to act to end all forms of violence against women and girls.

Making the critical link between violence against women and human rights, the campaign observes several significant dates in its 16 days, including:

For the first time in 12 years the CBC’s broadcast license is up for
review by the federal CRTC in November.

This is our chance to show how important the public broadcaster is to
us, to our communities, and to our country. Let's not let the right wing Conservative attacks against the public broadcaster drown out the voices from all across the country who support the CBC and want to see it thrive.
